Brief

MegaBots builds giant fighting robots and wanted a live show at American Steel in Oakland. Robots are a spectacle for about four minutes. After that you need a story.

Approach

We wrote one and used the robots as theatrical props. Zork Muckerborg, a Silicon Valley technocrat out to steal and sell the world's data, against Eagle Prime, a fifteen-ton mech defending privacy. Eagle Prime crushed washing machines, ovens and dryers with its claws, then spun up a five-foot chainsaw on a 430 horsepower V8 and opened a cargo van like a soup can. We shot it multi-cam and streamed it to MegaBots' Patreon supporters. VIP ticket holders sat in the cockpit and were photographed with the pilots, and one got to fly it.

Outcome

Sold out twice after extra tickets were released, with a 10,000-viewer livestream and a 92% satisfaction score.
