Desert Daze Festival, image 1 of 7

Brief

Desert Daze describes itself as a festival of music rather than a music festival. In 2016 it moved to the Institute of Mentalphysics, a 420-acre Frank Lloyd Wright retreat in Joshua Tree, expanding from one day to three in the same year it changed sites.

Approach

I produced the art installations and stage environments across three outdoor stages, an indoor space for speakers, workshops and audiovisual performances, plus vendors, bars, food trucks and a diner. We built a pagoda, a fabric shade structure over the dance floor, and two towering fabric gates.

Outcome

Roughly 6,000 people across three outdoor stages and a full indoor alternative program, with 70+ bands.
