Save The Sasquatch

A private festival focused on immersive theatrical hijinks, high production value, and a safe container.

Over 1200 participants joined on an eco-tourism adventure to Poachella Preserve, a nature preserve for endangered mythical flora and fauna—including the critically endangered Sasquatch—run by a team of human and non-human forest rangers. The preserve has acquired a seemingly innocuous unicorn to help save the Sasquatch, since unicorns are the O- of mythical creatures—any creature they mate with births another of the other creature rather than a unicorn.

However, things don't go as planned. Unicorns reproduce asexually when fed popcorn, and on Friday night after a freak popcorn accident they multiplied out of control. They overran the preserve and became an invasive species, shitting rainbows and corn puns over all the art and creating an ecological and social monoculture with their ethos of easy, sexy, and fun party culture (and their constant blasting of Genuwine’s Pony). As usual, on Saturday night the Sasquatch ended up saving itself, and us, from the disastrous situation.

Upon entering, everyone was on-boarded into Project UGH, a genetic research initiative attempting to save the Sasquatch. Attendees were given the opportunity to help drive the narrative by interacting with the overlying ARG. Participants engaged with over 45 thematic interactive art projects created by 150+ artists which formed an immersive world. Lead characters roamed the event grounds sewing the story together. Staged theatrical climaxes punctuated the story each night.

Emerging electronic and live musicians played throughout the weekend on multiple stages with mesmerizing lighting, sound and stage design.
